Discover the stunning photographic beauty of Dar es Salaam from different colorful Dar rooftop spots with us , sometimes even to a born and raised local some views of Dar es Salaam are quite something to behold.
One of the best things in Dar recently is the sheer number of high-rises emerging in downtown and in the outskirts of the city providing great rooftop joints like bars , cafés and of course best photographic spots for rooftop addicts in town. We are happy with the recent construction boom because we believe we are getting more urban recreational and entertainment centres, more hotel rooms, good restaurants and cafes and even enough office spaces for business.
This time, we are taking you to more than 10 buildings in Dar es salaam that we think have either the top notch restaurant or bar with a view or a great photographic spot.
- RITA TOWER
Basically our favourite building in town, its tall, Great space on the top, it gives you 360 degrees view of Dar and its surrounding. Despite the fact that there is no confirmed restaurant or bar at the top, still the view up there is amazing. From RITA TOWER rooftop, you will be able to see the booming and shining part of Dar es salaam.
The most dormant part of the city that has never seen a lot of major construction activities since Diamond Plaza and IT Plaza in the photo bellow.
Part of the city and part of the city where our talls are rising, these are the most photographed building in Dar es salaam. If you haven’t photographed them yet, grab your camera and them justice. The buildings are PSPF twin towers, TPA tower and MNF towers.

2LEVEL 8 AT HYATT REGENCY THE KILIMANJARO
One of the best views of the city, the Indian Ocean and port of Dar es salaam light reflections can be shot from here. Here you can also do time lapses of big ships plying to and from the port. You can do panoramas with the view of kivukoni lighthouse and PSPF and TPA towers views.
Located along Libya Street, RK tower also provides the best views of the city especially at night. Like RITA tower, you have 360 degree view of the city from the rooftop.

5.HIGH SPIRIT LOUNGE BAR AT IT PLAZA ROOFTOP
Basically my favourite place in town, you can start with Happy hour here while shooting the photos you like. The lights at night are amazing. I think this place is so camera friendly. Have been coming here several times and nobody ever bothered me with my camera. I never bring a tripod here so I usually place my camera on top Conner’s where they are hanging their cctv cameras, There is a base like structure where I can place my camera.

7.AKEMI REVOLVING RESTAURANT AT GOLDEN JUBILEE TOWER
First time went to the rooftop with shutterbugstz didn’t know how to take photos at night, do got dark blurred images, and second time trying to shoot from the smoking area by placing a camera on top of the glass got hit by a camera on my face , thank God the camera landed on my face, was lucky didn’t fall on the other side of the glass. At night, there are too much light reflections, so take into considerations these effects when planning to shoot there. During the day, the place is calm and you can time-lapse the ships plying the Indian ocean.
Mzizima towers is a commercial and residential tower under construction opposite Holiday in and its already giving great views of the city from above. You can consult the site manager for access.
